Health Care Reform: Just the beginning
Regence has long advocated for comprehensive health care reform. And while the new federal reform law represents meaningful progress, it is just the beginning of a longer journey.
For example, Regence strongly supports provisions in the new law designed to expand access to coverage and care. But to make reform work over the long term, we must find effective ways to improve quality and reduce overall spending.
Regence has a long history of working closely with the communities we serve to do just that. Our work on quality and transparency initiatives, health exchanges, community collaboratives, medical home pilots, and comparative effectiveness research is focused on creating a more efficient and sustainable health care system. Regence also initiated an award-winning Consumer Cost Education campaign to better inform the way each of us uses health care resources. Many of these concepts were included in the new law.
Moving forward, we will continue to experience significant changes to our health care system and we will do everything we can to keep you informed. That's why we've developed this resource.
