Medical Neighborhoods are a new way for us to help you save money on your health care. Our goal with this program is to provide you with better communication, higher quality care and lower overall costs.

How do Medical Neighborhoods work?

Medical Neighborhoods enable doctors to work together to coordinate your care. It's an innovative way to avoid unnecessary costs—like having an expensive test done more than once with different doctors.

You can choose from seven Medical Neighborhoods in Idaho. Wherever you live, you have access to at least one. Each includes primary care providers such as internists, family practice doctors, geriatricians and pediatricians. Whichever neighborhood you select, you still have access to all specialists and hospitals in the Regence PPO network. No referrals are required.

Your neighborhood choice applies to your whole family, but your family members can see providers in other Medical Neighborhoods if they like.

Traveling outside of your neighborhood

If you're traveling within Idaho, in-network care is available in all Medical Neighborhoods and through in-network specialists and hospitals.

If you have an individual plan: In Oregon, Washington and Utah, in-network benefits are available through the Regence Individual and Family Network. These are available when you travel, and for dependents who live in those states. When you travel outside of those states, emergent care is always covered, and urgent care is covered when using a BlueCard provider.

If you have a plan through your employer: In Oregon, Washington and Utah you can get in-network benefits through the Preferred network. Use BlueCard for coverage when you travel elsewhere in the country.

Choosing a Medical Neighborhood

You can choose a Medical Neighborhood now. Otherwise, when you enroll in or renew your plan, you'll need to choose a Medical Neighborhood. Pick one that's convenient to you—the choice is yours. If you don't choose, though, we'll assign you to a Medical Neighborhood based on where you live.

You can change your neighborhood if your circumstances change—if you move, for example, or get a new job. Just let us know.

Use Find a doctor to see what neighborhoods your doctor is part of, or to find out which doctors are available in a particular neighborhood.
