As a member of Regence, if your plan includes BlueCard® coverage, your health care benefits work almost exactly the same when you are traveling as they do when you're at home. The BlueCard program gives you access to the largest network of doctors and hospitals both nationally and internationally.
BlueCard program membership
BlueCard membership can be identified by the image of the small suitcase on your member ID card (usually near the bottom right of the card).

How to use BlueCard benefits
If you have BlueCard coverage, you don't need a referral from your doctor or Regence to get health care.
Find a BlueCard plan doctor or hospital
- Call 1 (800) 810-BLUE (2583) at any time (24 hours a day, seven days a week).

Inside the United States
When you arrive at a participating Blue Plan doctor's office or hospital, simply present your member ID card. After you receive care, you should not need to complete any claim forms, pay up front for any services outside the usual out-of-pocket expenses, and you will receive an explanation of benefits from Regence as usual.
Outside the U.S.
If you are traveling outside the U.S., you should not need to pay up front for inpatient care at Blue Cross Blue Shield Global Core hospitals, in most cases. Just show your member card, which identifies you as a BlueCard member.
However, if you receive medical care from a non-BlueCard provider, you will need to pay the doctor or hospital up front. After paying, complete an international claim form and send it to the Blue Cross Blue Shield Global Core Service Center.
