Community Partner Organizations (CPOs) are an important part of Regence's community giving. Local nonprofits are chosen based on how they align with our Cause of transforming health care.
Partnerships are typically one year, with the option to renew. CPOs receive a broad range of help: financial grants, event support, board member involvement, featured placement in Regence's Employee Giving Campaign and volunteer support from our employees. This combination of funding, leadership and helping hands works to strengthen these organizations and our communities.
These nonprofits are Regence's Community Partner Organizations for 2014 in the four states we serve.
Community Action Partnership (CAP) vision is "our whole community working together to end poverty." For the past five years, CAP has been working with people from all sectors of our community to address the cycle of generational poverty. Through our partnership, Regence will invest in the development of a two-generational model to break the cycle of poverty.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Idaho provides a temporary home away from home for families of ill or injured children receiving treatment at Boise medical facilities. RMHC also invests in programs that promote the health and well-being of children. Through our partnership, Regence will help raise the level of awareness and impact of the RMHC throughout its market area in Idaho.
Friends of the Children (FOTC) is a revolutionary nonprofit organization that provides highly vulnerable children with professional, paid, long-term mentors. It takes a preventative, early intervention approach that breaks the cycle of poverty and helps children to grow up to be productive citizens. The mentors (Friends) spend around four hours per week with the child both in and out of school engaging him or her in a wide range of activities designed to build basic life skills, confidence, academic success and resiliency. FOTC makes a 12½ year commitment to each child, selecting them in kindergarten and guiding them through high school graduation. Our support of FOTC focuses on launching a new health initiative for its staff and mentees, as well as helping them celebrate 20 year making a difference for children in our community.
Oregon Food Bank (OFB) works to address the root causes of hunger through public policy advocacy and education programs, as well as food distribution to pantries across Oregon and SW Washington. Our partnership with OFB focuses on support for business planning, capacity building, education and marketing outreach.
Special Olympics Oregon (SOOR) provides sports training and athletic competition for persons with mental disabilities. SOOR holds events in every region of the state, every month of the year, providing athletes the opportunity to be competing and training as often as they choose. Our partnership focuses on support for program participation and growth in the Medford and Bend markets.
YWCA Utah is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. It is Utah's oldest, largest and most comprehensive provider of shelter, transitional housing and supportive services for women and children who have experienced family violence. Through our partnership, we will help increase the YWCA's revenue-generating activities, major gifts fundraising and community outreach. Specifically, we'll provide support and start-up costs to open a full-day kindergarten, help establish a women-centered giving society, and fund a "Strong Women" media campaign.
American Red Cross, Utah Region (ARC) fulfills its mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and generosity of donors. Based on our previous partnership with ARC and the opportunities to further align our corporate focus on support for military troops and veterans, we'll support ARC's Veteran Mentorship program and Heroes events.
Food Lifeline is dedicated to ending hunger in Western Washington, through its network of 300 food banks, meal programs and shelters. Our partnership with Food Lifeline is directed toward its development of a children's nutrition program.
Sound Generations (was Senior Services) is the most comprehensive nonprofit agency serving older adults and their loved ones in Washington State. Established in 1967, it promotes positive aging for thousands of seniors and their families each year through its integrated system of quality programs and senior centers. Our funding will support the nonprofit's development and launch of a Navigator Program to assist seniors in obtaining the right services and resources to meet daily needs.
Second Harvest is fighting hunger by bring community resources together to feed the hungry in Eastern Washington and North Idaho with their partnership of more than 250 neighborhood food banks and meal centers. This partnership with Second Harvest supports their initiatives with healthy eating and feeding children.
