Mandatory Site-of-Care program effective Apr. 1, 2023

January 31, 2022

Effective April 1, 2023, groups will again have the option of adding or renewing a Mandatory Site-of-Care (SOC) program to their benefit plans.

With specialty drug costs continuing to rise, the Mandatory SOC program may deliver significant savings to ASO groups by requiring employees to seek infusion services at approved sites. Employees are guided away from high-cost hospital settings to approved providers through our pre-authorization process. Employees can choose to receive infusions at infusion centers, provider offices, other non-urgent-care settings, or even their own home.

Our clinical pharmacists identify medications included in the program based on safety, effectiveness and member experience with the medications in alternative site-of-care settings.

Action required: ASO groups that wish to add or renew the Mandatory SOC program must sign a contract amendment acknowledging that they bear all responsibility for the program.

The Voluntary SOC program with shared savings is a separate program that continues to be offered to ASO groups at no cost.
