The SMS member ID card feature provides subscribers an opportunity to get their card faster

January 30, 2024

The Regence member ID card allows plan subscribers to gain access to one of the country’s largest provider networks. Now, imagine if they were able to get the information on that card sooner in a safe and simple two-step process.

During Q4 2023, we began rolling out our new SMS member ID card feature, which sends a short text message notifying subscribers when their digital member ID card is ready for viewing. This text message will be sent to subscribers an average of three to five days before their physical card arrives in the mail, enabling them to save a digital copy on a mobile device and create an account on regence.com.

For a member to be eligible to receive this notification, we would have needed to collect their mobile phone number and email address on their enrollment form. The member will receive a text with instructions for viewing a copy of their digital member ID card, or opting out.

Sample text message

Here’s a sample of the messaging we’ll send to eligible subscribers:

Hi [FIRSTNAME]. Welcome to your Regence health plan! We’re working with your employer to make sure you have access to your digital member ID card right away—so you can start making the most of your benefits.

Reply GO to access your digital member ID card.

Review text messaging terms at regence.com/messaging-terms. If you’re not [FIRSTNAME], reply WRONG. For help, reply HELP, or reply STOP to end messages.

Subscribers will receive this single text message if they are a new member or if there is a change to their member ID or group ID.
