In December we finalized details of our strategic collaboration with Life & Specialty Ventures, as announced in April 2021. The goal is to advance the medical and dental care and financial well-being of Idaho, Oregon, Utah and Washington residents. Through the partnership, our LifeMap ancillary insurance business has become part of Life & Specialty Ventures’ USAble Life (USAL) ancillary insurance business. USAL will begin management of all dental products for Regence and its affiliated health plans. Regence, and its family of companies, retains full ownership of Regence Dental and has gained an ownership position and Board representation in Life & Specialty Ventures.

Regence maintains full responsibility for sales and will share administration with USAL, which will oversee Regence Dental’s management and marketing, and provide reinsurance. A leading ancillary and dental carrier in each of its markets, USAL will support ongoing enhancements to our ancillary products and introduce innovative new products to our members. The timeline for transitioning Regence Dental management, marketing, administration and reinsurance to USAL is being determined.

During the transition, sales, underwriting and service of Regence Dental and LifeMap products will continue as they did before the partnership and be backed up by USAL. Regence and LifeMap producers and customers will continue to receive the same excellent local sales and service support they’ve always enjoyed. Producers’ commission rates and payment process will not change.

Producers with renewals and proposals in progress will not have to update them; all in-progress renewals and proposals remain valid, and there will be no changes to rates. Producers with current appointments for Regence Dental and LifeMap products remain unchanged and will still be supported locally by the current team.
