Regence continues to expand behavioral health resources and network

October 25, 2022

More than 50% of adults with mental illness do not receive treatment, and more than 24% can’t get the help they need. This number has been consistent for more than a decade.

Mental Health America, a nonprofit that advocates for mental health services and treatment, recently issued The State of Mental Health in America 2022—and the statistics are staggering:

  • Nearly 50 million—almost 20%—of adults in the U.S. experienced a mental illness in 2019
  • Almost 5% of adults have serious thoughts of suicide—a number that has increased every year over the last decade
  • More than 60% of youth with major depression don’t get mental health treatment

The barriers to accessing behavioral health care are complex. One area we’ve dedicated resources to this year is offering more options to members, including behavioral health self-care tools, online mental health treatment and virtual treatment for substance use disorders.

AbleTo Therapy+ joins Regence network on Nov. 1, 2022

Beginning Nov. 1, 2022, all health plan members ages 18 and older will have access to AbleTo Therapy+. An evidence-based behavioral health provider, AbleTo offers a unique, eight-week series of one-on-one therapy sessions with a licensed therapist by phone or video, with digital tools for support between sessions. People who have used AbleTo’s services have reported clinically significant declines in depression, anxiety and stress, as well as dramatic improvements in workplace productivity.

AbleTo’s Therapy360 product is currently available to ASO groups as a buy-up. The Therapy360 program is for people with depression, anxiety or other behavioral health needs and who are managing another chronic health condition, such as diabetes, heart disease, COPD and others. This clinically proven eight-week program includes a tailored treatment plan to address behavioral, medical and lifestyle needs. Members meet with a therapist twice weekly.
