New materials focus on Bringing Light to Mental Health for groups and employees

April 26, 2022

All of us need mental health support at some point. Whether we're among the estimated one in five who battle anxiety, depression or a substance use disorder each year, or we've helped someone through a crisis, the need for treatment is commonplace. A critical component to addressing mental health is addressing the stigma around seeking care. Talking about mental health, understanding available tools and recognizing that nobody needs to experience it alone are crucial first steps toward building healthier communities.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month—an opportunity to highlight the importance of prioritizing mental health, share resources and address the stigma. With an emphasis on practical approaches to improve mental health and resiliency—owning your feelings, finding the positive, eliminating toxic influences, creating healthy routines and supporting others—the conversations happening this month are important for workplaces, schools and families.

Encouraging groups to utilize mental health resources

At Regence, we prioritize mental health as highly as physical health. This is a good time to remind groups about the tools and resources available through their health plan. A good place to start is making sure your groups and members know which treatment options, providers and solutions are in their network.

Embedded and buy-up options offer access through telehealth and specialized app-based, clinically validated digital platforms:

  • Uprise Health (formerly known as Reliant Behavioral Health): Embedded in all fully insured small group (1-50; 2-50 in Idaho) metallic plans and available to groups of 51+ and self-funded groups as a buy-up.
  • myStrength: Interactive, customized behavioral health and resilience-building resources; embedded in all 51+ fully insured plans for 2022 and available to self-funded groups as a buy-up.
  • Doctor On Demand: 24/7 telehealth for behavioral, primary and non-urgent care; embedded in all fully insured small group (1-50; 2-50 in Idaho) metallic and midsize group (51-100) metallic plans, and available as a buy-up to fully insured groups of 101+ and self-funded groups. Offers LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCs, LMHCs, psychologists and psychiatrists for behavioral health.
  • MDLIVE: 24/7 telehealth for behavioral, primary and non-urgent care; available as a buy-up to fully insured groups of 101+ and self-funded groups.
  • Regence Empower™: Our well-being platform providing members personalized guidance on their journey toward improved health. Regence Empower Core is embedded and buy-up packages are available to fully insured groups of 51+ and self-funded groups.
  • AbleTo: Virtual mental health provider offering personalized online therapy and behavioral health coaching. Available as a buy-up on a limited basis to self-funded groups. (Please ask your account representative for information about availability.)

Network extender options are virtual or hybrid (blended virtual and office based) in-network resources, each specializing in one or more behavioral health conditions:

  • Boulder Care: Addiction and substance use disorder virtual treatment provider, now available for most members 24/7 throughout Oregon, Idaho, Utah and Washington.
  • nOCD: Specialized virtual care for OCD using exposure and response prevention treatment (ERP).
  • Hazelden Betty Ford: Integrated adult addiction and mental health treatment offering varying levels of care based on patients' unique needs. Virtual and in-person treatment available to groups in Oregon (two facilities in Beaverton and Newberg) and Washington)

Materials help bring light to mental health and stop the stigma

We've created useful materials for employers; use, focusing on reducing the stigma associated with seeking care for mental health and ensuring employees know how and where to access care.

  • Includes a customizable template for you or your groups to fill in that highlights available mental and behavioral health resources, a pre-written email template emphasizing the importance of talking about mental health, a flyer explaining the different types of behavioral health providers available, and a mental well-being self-assessment you can distribute.

We'll send these materials to employers in the May 10 edition of Employer News, and your support can help ensure they use them. Mental illness impacts nearly everyone. Now is the time to make sure your groups' employees know how to get help.
