The health and well-being of our members is important to us, and we encourage preventive care to help prevent or detect problems early on. Changes will take effect for all groups with Affordable Care Act (ACA) preventive benefits effective May 1, 2022. To reflect these changes, we've updated our preventive care flyers. Please share these resources with your groups so they're aware of the changes and their preventive care coverage. Below is a list of the changes:
The United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommends screening for prediabetes and type 2 diabetes in adults 35 to 70 who are overweight. This is an update from the previous recommendation, which was limited to type 2 diabetes screening and counseling in adults 40 to 70 if overweight or obese. The USPSTF's effective date is August 24, 2022, but we're implementing it on May 1.
The USPSTF recommends that clinicians offer effective behavioral counseling interventions aimed at promoting healthy weight gain and preventing excess weight gain in pregnancy. The USPSTF effective date is May 25, 2022, but we’re implementing it on May 1.
