Individual market: New special enrollment period (SEP) available to lower-income consumers

March 29, 2022

One of our goals is to expand our availability to Individual members as markets stabilize. Our competitively priced products offer options and are sold both direct and on the health insurance Marketplace. All of our Individual plans include head-to-toe coverage and low-cost virtual care, plus assistance programs and in-network preventive care at no cost.

Recently the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced a new special enrollment period for lower-income consumers, allowing them to enroll in Individual Marketplace coverage any time, if eligible.

To qualify, consumers must have an estimated annual household income of no more than 150% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) and must not be eligible for Medicaid/CHIP. The FPL varies by state and household size, and can be found here.

Enrollment through this SEP began in late March and will be available through December 31, 2022. The Marketplace has begun contacting those who previously applied and did not qualify, but may now be eligible, via phone or email, advising them that they may now qualify for Marketplace coverage. They’re being encouraged to contact the Marketplace Call Center at 1-800-318-2596 (TTY: 1-855-889-4325) for help.
